LiveMARYLAND September Homeowners Checklist

As we inch closer to the cooler winter months, it may be a good idea to consider upgrading your thermostat. A programmable thermostat can help you save energy and money when homes are typically empty (like when everyone is at work and school), with the added bonus of being able to control it from your smartphone.
Just remember — you'll always want to talk with an HVAC professional for the best solutions. Pro tip: determine the most efficient "set point" and "set back" temperatures for your home comfort. If you have an electric heat pump, then you'll want to factor in the "recovery time" to reach the ideal "set point" so as to not heavily rely on the (very expensive) auxiliary heat.
If you haven't had a professional set of eyes on your heating/cooling system, then now is the time. You may want to consider changing your air filter more frequently and get your ductwork cleaned as well, especially with fall allergies that will soon be upon us.
