As we pause to honor our service members and their families, let us remember the brave men and women who have sacrificed their lives for the peace and security of our country.  We also pause to honor the front-line workers that place themselves in harm’s way day in, and day out to serve our essential needs and care for our communities.

Below, please find a list of some of our favorite local markets and businesses, and consider supporting them as you plan your Memorial Day celebrations.  Be sure to check their websites for the most up to date shopping practices:

Ingredients:

A dash of "sun" SUN NURSERIES Open and serving the public, and taking orders for pickup and delivery.

A pinch of fresh produce: HOWARD COUNTY FARMERS MARKETS Open May - November. Some are drive through only, and buyers are encouraged to order online ahead of time when possible. Check website for updates and schedule.

A generous cut of farm fresh meat: MARY’S LAND FARM Grass fed beef, lamb, chicken and pork.  Pasture raised chicken.  Call ahead for availability.

Finished with a delicious Looney’s cocktail: LOONEY’S PUBWith curbside carryout of 96 oz box crushes, margaritas, chillers, and crawlers for curbside pickup. Call ahead to reserve.

With this recipe, we wish you, and your families, a happy and healthy Memorial Day.
